Within the classroom, we focused on cave painting.We used the Lascaux cave paintings as a stimulus for our cave paintings, and engaged in a class discussion on both the subject of the paintings and indeed the method. To complete these paintings, we drew the outlines on paper using pencils, then finger-painted the outlines in black, completing the colouring using our fingers. We then painted our hands and made a classic, Stone Age inspired hand print on the wall of our "cave" vertically to simulate the correct method; how it might have felt to paint on the wall of a cave.
We also made Stone-Age Jewellery in our lessons. Looking at pictures of Stone-Age jewellery, and indeed the materials one might have used to create these pieces, we modelled typical shapes out of clay. Shapes included bones, stones and animal teeth. Threading a plastic needle and thread through the pieces, we were able to create out necklaces (pictured above on the above picture) and our bracelets (pictured below on the above picture).
